Brenda, Making the Most of Now with her Rollator

Posted on

Brenda Perales is a patient of Multifocal Motor Neuropathy (MMN) and has been associated with the MMN community and Foundation for several years. During her journey with MMN, she always felt stressed whenever she had to walk alone for more than 100 feet. This was true whether she was walking through the halls of the capitol building, navigating through airports, or even just taking a walk with her husband and dogs. Brenda frequently found herself staring at the floor while walking, to ensure she wouldn’t trip.

“I think you always hold out hope things will get better and we are not always honest with ourselves. MMN is progressive and even though I have not progressed over the last 11 years, I had managed to carefully craft my life to feel as normal as possible.  I would use tricks to try and hide what was obvious to probably everyone else, but me” I had convinced myself I was fine,” said Brenda

Brenda hadn’t realized the amount of stress she was causing herself and her family by living the way she had been living. She decided it was time to start Making the Most of Now and purchase a rollator. Now, she can confidently take walks with her family and for the first time keep up with the pace.
