Richard Warkentin

Once the prednisone regime was begun I soon became able to start moving my arms and legs a little at a time and slowly build strength in a recovery program.  After a total hospital time of 90 days I was able to leave Rehab and return home to continue recovery on my own, with wheelchair, walker, canes, etc.  Within a year I was able to blend in with the general public with no outward signs of disability, aside from an inability to run freely.  The balance needed to be able to run and jump around freely has never returned but that is a small price to pay for an otherwise good and almost complete recovery.  That recovery in 2008 carried me on to mostly renewed normal living.  One relapse due mostly to the effects of prednisone was all that I have experienced since 2008.

Although diagnosed with CIDP, C being “chronic”, I have not experienced any relapses aside from the slight hiccups with prednisone.  I have enjoyed life since, travelling, and doing most everything I did before and am now age 89 in 2023.  The 15 years living since recovery have been truly appreciated.
