Advocating for Access: Taking H.R. 1143 to Capitol Hill

Posted on

Recently, we visited the Capitol to raise awareness of our patient community living within the United States, and advocate for our bill H.R. 1143—the Medicare IVIG Access Enhancement Act of 2025. This act would amend Title XVIII of the United States Social Security Act to expand coverage of the in-home administration of intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) for individuals under Medicare Part B. While private insurance covers home infusion of IVIG, patients who rely on Medicare Part B for treatment can only access this critical treatment at designated infusion centers—creating barriers to access for many within rural communities, as well as for those without reliable means of transportation. By advocating in the Senate, we hope to introduce a companion bill that would promote greater interest in the overall issue and allow us to get closer to closing this gap for patients living in the United States.

You can help out as well by writing a letter to your Senator to advocate for their assistance in introducing a Senate companion bill as well! If you live within the states of Virginia, Rhode Island, Wisconsin, or Georgia, please reach out to Jacob.Fuller@gbs-cidp.org. Alternatively, for those living outside of the U.S. but who are still looking to get involved, feel free to reach out as well for other ways to get involved in advocacy!
