Newly diagnosed with CIDP from back in June as I’m learning to navigate CIDP on a day-to-day basis with monthly infusions. My days are filled with a lot of progress but still lots of symptoms. Everyday is something new.
Back in June, I was sick and then a couple weeks later started losing feeling throughout my body. I’m a mail carrier so there were days I couldn’t even feel my hands or feet, so it slowed me down tremendously as I slowly walked up each porch. One day as I was walking my route, the right side of my face started droop, and I lost control of that whole face and was suffering from paralysis. Customers were asking me if I had dental work done or if I was having a stroke. Truth be told, I was worried I was having a stroke, but I didn’t know what it was… but I told them “no, bit something is wrong” and kept it moving.
The next day things got worse, and friends and family urged me to go to the hospital, so I finally did and then instantly admitted me. A couple days later I was diagnosed with GBS and treated with IVIG and reacted horribly, but I got through it.
Then, a couple months later all my symptoms came back with vengeance… and then I was diagnosed with CIDP. Now I continue on the road to recovery with monthly infusions twice a month to make things containable and manageable. I’m so grateful to be okay and functioning. This disease is WICKED, but I’m grateful I’m okay and that I’m here to raise my two little boys and be here for my little family.
Thankfully my support system has been my rock through all of this so a big thank you to my friends and family as I navigate through this crazy time in my life.
