Webinar Series with Dr. Bergman

Garrett E. Bergman, MD, has provided various kinds of support to the GBS-CIDP Foundation International for over 30 years, since the early 1990s.  He was awarded his BS degree from Pennsylvania State University; his MD degree from Jefferson Medical College (now the Sidney Kimmel School of Medicine), and an executive MBA degree from Temple University’s Fox School of Business and Management.  He studied pediatrics at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children, then practiced pediatrics, for 2 years in the US Army, and then, specializing in pediatric hematology and oncology, as a full-time faculty member at the Women’s Medical College of Pennsylvania, now Drexel University College of Medicine, for 14 years.  He then switched his focus, working in the pharmaceutical and plasma industry for 31 years, until his retirement in 2018.  In industry, he was primarily responsible for developing new products and indications for rare and serious diseases. He most enjoyed teaching the science behind the products to the sales and marketing departments at Armour Pharmaceutical Company, CSL Behring, Kedrion Biopharma and others.  He has contributed over 40 peer-reviewed articles in the medical literature, many of which continue to be referenced in medical journals to this day.  Throughout his training and career, he has lived in Narberth, Pa, with his wife of 54 years Marilyn; they have two children and two teenaged granddaughters.
