Russell Walter

Secretary

Russ has served on the Foundation Board of Directors since 2015. Guillain-Barré Syndrome interrupted his life in 2005. Some years later he discovered the Foundation’s patient support programs and wished he could have had that kind of support in his most critical days. “For all the care and love from family, friends and medical professionals, nothing is the same as knowing others who have been there too.” He has since served as Board Secretary, San Francisco Bay Area liaison and chair of San Francisco Walk & Rolls.

His professional background was focused on audit, regulatory compliance, and securities trading risk management at Bank of America. He traveled globally, writing compliance policies and guiding domestic and off-shore units in meeting risk management objectives.

Russ has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Missouri, a master’s degree from the Ohio State University, and a master of business administration from the Thunderbird School of Global Management at Arizona State University.

He and his husband relocated to Sonoma, California in 2014, where he enjoys cooking, growing citrus trees, and learning Spanish. He also does volunteer tax preparation and teaches ESL at a local community center.
