On May 22nd, the GBS|CIDP Foundation International hosted a heartfelt and informative Neuro Nurse Coffee Chat, bringing together our community of neurology nurses and infusion nurses for a warm and welcoming virtual gathering.
From seasoned neuro nurses to those newer to the field, participants shared experiences, asked questions, and found solidarity in their dedication to caring for patients with Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS), chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP), and related conditions.
Hosted by Foundation staff, Sandi Brettler, Clinical Nurse Specialist at Penn State Health, and Cathy Prescott, member of the Neuromuscular team at the Walton Centre NHS Foundation Trust, the chat offered a unique opportunity to hear directly from nurses on the front lines—about the challenges they face, the victories they celebrate, and the deep impact they make in their patients’ lives. Together, we explored topics like navigating rare disease diagnoses, managing long-term patient care, and advocating for resources within the healthcare system.
Stay tuned for our next event, and thank you to all who participated in making this Coffee Chat such a meaningful experience!
