DIY Fundraising in a Virtual World

DIY Fundraising Event

COVID-19 has caused all of us to rethink how we get together and socialize with our family and friends. Are you looking for ways to cure your post-holiday blues while making a difference in the GBS│CIDP patient community? We have brainstormed some creative ways you can host a DIY fundraising event in a virtual world.

Host a virtual game night – Calling all board game enthusiasts! Set up a Zoom call and play a rousing game of Trivial Pursuit or Scattergories. You are guaranteed to have lots of laughs, even in a new virtual format. After the game, share your story and why the Foundation is important to you. Ask your guests to make a small donation in honor of the fun night you shared.

Host a virtual dinner party – Set up a Zoom meeting for your friends and family at a set time. Before the meeting, share a simple recipe with your attendees. After each attendee has cooked their meal at their own home, have everyone join the Zoom and enjoy their delicious dinner at their together. Start the evening by talking about your connection with the Foundation and ask your attendees to donate what they would typically spend on a night out.

Host a watch party – Many online streaming services allow you to host a watch party, which allows a group of participants to watch a video simultaneously and interact with each other at the same time. Ask your friends to donate the amount that they would normally spend on a movie ticket. Want to do something special for your attendees? Mail or drop off a bag of popcorn for them!

Did something strike your fancy? Or do you have another idea for a DIY fundraising event? Share it with us by emailing Sierra.Morris@gbs-cidp.org. Thank you for your continued support and creativity in this virtual world.

VOLUNTEER

Our volunteers are the heart of the organization. We have so many patients, caregivers, family members, and medical professionals who generously give their time to help us create a one-of-a-kind organization. We are always in need of new volunteers to help us support our pillars of support, education, research, and advocacy.

Available Opportunities include:

Become a Liaison or Points of Contact: Our team of liaisons or point of contacts are all either survivors/patients themselves or caregivers and are here to speak with patients and their families.

Additionally, our Liaisons conduct semi-annual chapter meetings in over 100 locations across the United States both in-person & now virtually! These chapter meetings bring together the GBS|CIDP community and profile a wide range of educational speakers.

Host a DIY Fundraising Event: These events are fantastic ways to raise awareness of GBS│CIDP and variants of the conditions, such as MMN in your local community. In this issue of the E-news, we have shared ways you can host an event virtually. Volunteer for the Walk and Roll: We need your help to make these events a success! You can join a planning committee, and/or be part of our Day of crew. Look at our Walk and Roll website to find out about different ways that you can volunteer. Not seeing a Walk and Roll in your area? Contact Pamela.Franks@gbs-cidp.org to start the simple planning process. The best news? Our Walk and Roll team is here to support you throughout the entire planning process.
