2020 GBS|CIDP Symposium Washington D.C. – Frequently Asked Questions

What Is a Symposium?

Our symposium is a three-day event consisting of sessions led by our Global Medical Advisory Board physicians and related professionals. Our event will kick-off with a welcome celebration, we will have two full days of sessions, and then we will close with a closing reception where we announce the location of our next event!

Is a Symposium for me?

If you or someone in your life is living with GBS, CIDP or related conditions – the symposium is tailor made for you! We are always evolving with our programming based on the needs of our community.

Is this for US only members?

NO! Our symposium is International, and many patients from outside of the US attend our event!

How many people attend a Symposium?

Our San Diego Symposium had record-breaking attendance with 575 members! We are anticipating this to be our largest yet, with 600 potentially in attendance.

When can I register & what does that include?

Registration will open on January 1st. Registration includes all sessions, our Thursday Welcome Reception, all on-site meals & breaks (with the exception of Friday night when members are on own for dinner – a great chance to visit DC or Alexandria!) and our closing celebration. We will run an Early Bird Special through April so don’t miss out on a discounted rate!

Registration does not include hotel accommodations – we do have a discounted room rate available at the Hilton – check out our Hotel Info page for more information.

I cannot afford to attend – what are my options?

This spring, we will announce our scholarship program – a reimbursement up to $1,000 per recipient to cover your travel & hotel expenses. You will be able to apply directly through the liaison portal. Don’t worry about missing out – we will make an announcement when the application process opens.

Will I have time to meet other patients?

Yes! Offering enough time for you to connect is one of our top priorities! The theme of our opening celebration is “GBS|CIDP Block Party”. You will receive a tee shirt in which the color represents the region of the country/world that you live in. We also color code our neck wallets/name badges by condition/affiliation so your new friends are easy to identify.

When will sessions be announced?

We will announce sessions as they are confirmed under the ‘Conference Highlights’ section of the liaison portal. The full schedule will be available by the summer of 2020 but we promise – it’s going to be great!

What are Global Medical Advisory Board One on Ones and How Do I Sign Up?

These are private, 15 minute conversations with our Global Medical Advisory Board Physicians. We hope that these either reassure you of your care, or point you in a better direction for the future. We will open registrations for this (space is limited!) in the summer of 2020.You must be registered for the full event to qualify, as we cannot promise a time slot or day. We will announce when this program’s sign up opens.
