      Hi Folks,

After trying the whole Pharmacy over the last 3 years, I finally found what I believe is ‘My Pain Control” which has increased my strength to an even higher level than before. This is my daily regiment. I currently receive
85grams of Gammunex every two weeks. Can’t have anthing with tylenol
      products or ibuprophen.

      Wake up

Tramadol 300mg-synthetic Pain killer max dose

      Eat some Food, then

Pristiq 50mg-seratonin uptake inhibitor(helps pain and mood)
Celebrex 200mg-anti inflammatory(every third day)keeps inflammation in ck.

Oxycontin 10mg-20mg-codene pain killer (inbetween Celebrex days)

I actually feel somewhat normal without being drugged out. I even tried
fentynal to cover all the above, but it was way too strong. That had codene, morphine and methadone in it. I was way too looped on that stuff.
All the other drugs only chipped away at portions of the pain. the longer I am on IVIG and the stronger I get. the more active and more pain has developed.

Thought somebody might find it interesting. See Ya, Tim

It sure does take a lot of trial and error to get the medications correct, doesn’t it?

Can you describe the type of pain you were having (muscle pain, needle pricks, buzzing, etc…) ?

Did / Does the IVIG relieve the pain (it does for me) ? If yes, for how long ? (I get about 3 weeks of relief).

      Thanks.

Sure I would be happy to describe my pain.

For years I had an annoying ache below my knees. It was thought to be arthritis. As the disease progressed, ascending knumbness and increased weakness without much overall pain.

Once IVIG started. I felt immediate relief of the ache, like weight was lifted off of me. In the beginning (Jan) I went the whole month without pain killers but did have some pain.

With each month of Treatment, I get stronger and stonger. I am Near 100% as long as I feel no pain.

Right now When I get a treatment. While the infusion is taking place, It feels like I have pain meds in me. Usually the next day as well. I have over the last 6 months had usually 2-6 day of flu like body ache so I take the celebrex right after the infusion. I believe the infusion causes some inflammation. One pill and then just deal with this sneaky ache and pain.

On days where I hike or stand all day, my achilles and feet hurt. I can’t walk on hard surfaces bare feet. like concrete or macadam. NO stones. I was numb from the thighs down with some touch sensation. Now I have had ongoing recovery and my feet can be tickled.

When I wake in the morning, I have no pain. It starts the second I move and slowly escaletes throughout the day. If I elevate my legs up on pillows, the pain slowly goes down on its own.

Thats the best I can describe it. Hope this helps. I have spent countless thought hours trying to figure out what is going on and its hard. really hard.

      Hi Tim,

Just curoius about the Gamunex. Did you use other IVIG products prior to Gamunex and were they as effective? I had been on other IVIG products off on on over the years (dx in 1996) but they never helped. I switched to Gamunex in December because it is processed diferently, and have seen improvement. IV solumedrol every three weeks keeps my pain under control much of the time. Low back, knees and feet are my problem areas.
I’m getting 100 grams of Gamunex every three weeks the day after plasma exchange. Also take 200 mg of Cellcept daily.
Sure is interesting how much treatments vary.

Do you have bimonthly liver function testing?
With all this drugs liver damage is a posibility,
I had this problem because of gabapentin abuse,

      Hi,

The first dose of IVIG I have had was called panglobulin. When I came home from the hospital, I had the worst Nausea I have ever had for two days.

All subsequent treatments have been Gammunex with no side effects.
My Health Care company has its own internal Pharmacy and this was the brand they buy in bulk and sell to itself.

Some of the drugs I have tried for pain like lyrica, aleve, vicodin, tylenol with
codene all raised my liver functions. Tramadol and celebrex have not raised my ALT or AST as the others have. This is why I swithced to Oxycontin. Its pure codeine without tylenol. Just one more follow up CMP to verify that all three in combination doesn’t irritate the liver and I will have my pain treament plan. thanks–tim–
