March 2010

Here is an inspirational story from Ronnie Russell, Snellville, GA

I was diagnosed with CIDP in late 1999. I went from cane to a walker to wheelchar to bed in a 13 month time frame. It started in my feet and I eventually lost my lower extremities. I was treated with 40 rounds of IVIG; 3 days of plasmapheresis; cytoxin (light chemo), Embrel shots, and finally prednisone. After one and a half years of this horrific experience, I started to notice significant healing. Considering the severity of my nerve damage, all of my doctors are truly amazed. I am now back to work (traveling), jogging, playing golf and spending quality time with my family. I still have some residual tingling in my feet from time to time but after what I went through, I am not complaining. I told my doctor it was the support system, plenty of water, tons of blueberries, plain oatmeal with flax and collard greens. :)
